The Ski Club of South Africa was formed, in Cape Town, during the mid-1920’s. Skiing in South Africa first commenced, in the Hex River Mountains, on Fonteintjiesberg. Due to Fonteintjiesberg being declared a water catchment area for Worcester, The Ski Club subsequently re-located to Matroosberg during the late-1920’s.
